Hello, is this thing on?

In 2017 we started up a Slack Workspace called SecWonks. It was intended to be a refuge for Higher Ed security professionals both active and former to be able to keep in touch and talk socially apart from the more rigorous (and oft restricted) trust groups.

The idea was that if you left Higher Ed but still wanted to keep in touch with the community, this could be a safe space for that.

Well, it’s 2026 and we’re coming up on the 9 year mark for this group. The web site has been in cold storage since, well, as you can see, about January of 2018 during the Spectre and Meltdown incidents.

We’re going to try to start spinning the wheels again on the blog and see if we can get some traction. In the meantime, the Slack Workspace is still active so if you want to join just contact an existing member for an invite or email us at secwonks@protonmail.com.
